What the calculator computes

The calculator estimates the economic benefit of a battery storage from peak shaving and arbitrage.

With peak shaving, the storage reduces your load peaks. Since grid fees are often billed via a demand charge per kW, the reduced peak load produces a direct annual saving on the grid fee.

In addition, the storage can exploit price differences by shifting charge and discharge times (arbitrage). From these building blocks and the investment amount, the calculator derives cashflow and a rough payback period.

The actual values depend on your load profile, the grid operator, the operating strategy, and market prices and may differ from the model.
