In brief
At Bright & Green, a data centre is an energy project with an IT floor attached. In this position you model the energy concept of a site: how connection capacity, load profile, battery storage, renewable power supply and waste heat recovery fit together, and what the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) requires of them. Your result is the basis of every investment decision and of every conversation with operators and grid operators.
Responsibilities
- You model load profiles, generation and battery operation, and derive the connection capacity required.
- You size the battery for peak shaving, ride-through and full use of the connection capacity.
- You assess power purchase agreements and on-site generation by volume, profile and the coverage requirements of the Energy Efficiency Act.
- You agree the targets for power usage effectiveness and reused energy with building services and waste heat planning.
- You model variants and sensitivities and present the results in decision papers.
- You prepare the evidence and reporting duties that the company discharges as the operator once the site is running.
Requirements
- A degree in energy engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering or industrial engineering.
- Several years in energy concepts, generation planning, load management or storage simulation.
- Confidence with metered load data and modelling, for example in Python, R or advanced Excel.
- Knowledge of the requirements the Energy Efficiency Act places on data centres and of the DIN EN 50600 series.
- An understanding of the power market and of the contractual forms of long-term power purchase agreements.
- Confident written and spoken German and English, Dutch an advantage.
