In brief
Between the grid operator's connection point and the first row of servers lies the installation for which Bright & Green is itself accountable: the substation, the switchgear, the transformers, the protection systems and the medium-voltage distribution. In this position you design that installation, review the documents of the design engineers and see factory acceptance, protection testing and energisation through. Because the company then operates the installation itself, every design decision remains visible for its entire life.
Responsibilities
- You design the substation, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and medium-voltage distribution, and set out the technical requirements for the tender.
- You carry out or review load flow, short circuit and discrimination calculations as well as the earthing design to DIN EN 50522.
- You assess and release the documents of the design engineers and of the suppliers on technical grounds.
- You agree the grid operator's plant-side requirements, including protection settings and conformity evidence.
- You attend factory acceptance tests, protection testing, energisation and handover on site.
- You take on plant accountability in operation and set the inspection and maintenance intervals.
Requirements
- A degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power engineering, or a technician or master craftsman qualification with corresponding practice.
- Several years of experience with medium and high voltage installations, in design, construction or operation.
- Confident application of DIN EN 61936-1 (VDE 0101-1), DIN EN 50522 and VDE-AR-N 4120.
- Knowledge of the inspection duties under DGUV Regulation 3 and the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV).
- Switching authorisation for high and medium voltage installations, or the willingness to obtain it.
- Confident written and spoken German and English, Dutch an advantage; readiness to travel to sites in Germany and the Netherlands.
