In brief
Acceptance marks the beginning of the longest phase of a data centre. In this position you are accountable for the technical operation of a site: the maintenance strategy, the agreed availability, and the energy and reporting data the operator has to submit. Bright & Green operates its own assets, so this is not supervision of a service provider but operational accountability.
Responsibilities
- You develop the maintenance strategy for cooling, power distribution, standby generation and building automation, and keep it current with the recurring statutory inspections.
- You secure the agreed availability to DIN EN 50600 through maintenance windows, redundancy testing and the analysis of every incident.
- You keep the energy balance of the site and discharge the notification and reporting duties under the German Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG).
- You manage the maintenance and framework contracts, the specialist contractors on site and the spare parts holding.
- You operate the battery storage on site in the interplay of peak load, grid services and standby supply.
- You maintain the access, fire protection and emergency concepts, run the drills and keep the operating instructions current.
Requirements
- A degree in electrical, building services or energy engineering, or a technician qualification with relevant operational experience.
- Several years of accountability for the technical operation of a data centre, a substation or comparably critical plant.
- Knowledge of the DIN EN 50600 series and of availability and maintenance concepts for redundant infrastructure.
- Experience with operator duties in occupational safety, fire protection and plant safety, and with recurring inspections under the German Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV).
- Switching authorisation for medium-voltage installations, or the willingness to obtain it.
- German at negotiation level and confident English for coordination with operators and manufacturers, and participation in the on-call rota.
