In brief
Bright & Green builds battery storage both standalone at the grid and at data centre sites, and then operates it itself. In this position you run the technical operation of those assets: condition, availability, maintenance and warranty, so that the storage stays ready for the grid services being marketed. The remit covers both markets, whose connection rules and market designs differ.
Responsibilities
- You monitor the storage assets remotely, work the alarms, analyse faults and direct the service contractors on site.
- You keep the maintenance strategy for battery containers, inverters, transformers and cooling current, including the recurring inspections.
- You track the condition and degradation of the cells and enforce the performance and capacity warranties against the manufacturers.
- You secure availability for the grid services being marketed and meet the prequalification requirements of the transmission system operator.
- You uphold the fire protection and safety concepts of the sites and meet the water protection requirements of the German AwSV ordinance where they apply.
- You take new assets over from construction, checking documentation, parameter settings and the evidence owed to the grid operator.
Requirements
- A degree in electrical, energy or mechatronic engineering, or a technician qualification with operational experience on electrical installations.
- Several years in the operation of battery storage, substations, wind or solar farms, preferably with remote monitoring and an on-call rota.
- Knowledge of the grid connection conditions for generating and storage plant in Germany or in the Netherlands.
- Switching authorisation for medium-voltage installations and experience in establishing a safe isolated state under the German DGUV rules.
- An understanding of how a storage asset earns, from balancing services through arbitrage to peak shaving.
- Confident written and spoken German and English, Dutch an advantage, and readiness to travel to sites in both markets.
