In brief
Availability and energy efficiency of a data centre are decided by its mechanical and electrical systems. In this position you own cooling, power distribution, standby generation and building automation, from the systems concept through to handover to operations. Bright & Green keeps this engineering in house because the same company maintains the plant later.
Responsibilities
- You own the design and design review of the cooling, electrical, standby power, fire protection and building automation systems along the HOAI work stages.
- You size the redundancy concepts and demonstrate the availability class to DIN EN 50600 to the future operator.
- You tender the mechanical and electrical works, assess the bids technically and issue the award recommendation.
- You align the standby generators with the emission control requirements of the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and the fuel storage with the German AwSV water protection ordinance.
- You draw up the commissioning plan and execute it, from functional testing through integrated systems testing to the load test.
- You hand the systems documentation, maintenance schedules and operating parameters over to operations.
Requirements
- A degree in building services, electrical, energy or mechanical engineering.
- Several years in the design or construction of technical systems in data centres, cleanrooms, hospitals or comparably critical infrastructure.
- Sound knowledge of the DIN EN 50600 series and of the sizing of cooling plant, UPS systems and standby generators.
- Experience in commissioning technical systems, including functional, load and redundancy testing.
- Confident application of the HOAI work stages and of the German VOB in tendering and award.
- Confident written and spoken German and English for coordination with manufacturers, test bodies and operators.
